Report of "Survey on the impact of response to the COVID-19 epidemic on research productivity" is published.

 

NISTEP published "Survey on the impact of response to the COVID-19 epidemic on research productivity" as Research Material 313.

 [Main points of the results]

  • In the survey, the respondents were asked about their real research productivity, assuming that it would be 10 if there were no COVID-19 epidemics and its responses.The percentage of respondents whose research productivity decreased to 9 or below due to the epidemic and response to COVID-19 was 73% in doctoral students and 69% in doctoral graduates.

  • In the free-description responses about national and local governments should do, many of the respondents hoped for financial support for living and research expenses, as well as flexible extension of research funds.
